SAT / PSAT
The SAT with Essay is a college admissions test adopted by the State of Michigan as the required College and Career Ready assessment for 11th graders. The PSAT is the preliminary SAT test that students in grade 9 and 10 are required to take by the State of Michigan. A student’s score on the PSAT will show a student’s progress towards their college and career readiness.
The test covers areas of reading, writing, language, and mathematics. For more detailed information please visit the Inside the Test page for each assessment, on the College Board site, at the following links:
The best way to see what the SAT and PSAT look like is to see sample tests provided by the College Board at the following links. Each link provides a few sample questions, a full practice test(s), and a link to the Khan Academy Official SAT Practice site. The College Board does not have specific practice tests for PSAT 8/9. We suggest looking at the PSAT 10 practice test.
The College Board is collaborating with Khan Academy to provide students with free access to SAT and PSAT preparation via the Official SAT Practice site. After sign up, students have access to the following:
- Practice tests
- Short quizzes
- Interactive Practice
- Instant feedback
In addition to Khan Academy, a student can download the Daily Practice SAT app. Answer a question a day on the Daily Practice for the New SAT app and get immediate feedback. One SAT or PSAT 10 practice test is also available via the app.
